The role:

Senior Process Engineers will:

  • Lead the design and development of lithium recovery and advanced desalination plants, utilizing our modular water treatment unit operations for scalable and repeatable solutions.
  • Research and evaluate cutting-edge process devices and specifications, ensuring the optimal technology and economic fit for projects.
  • Drive the design and development of new products, contributing to innovative solutions in clean technology.
  • Lead and oversee the following tasks:
    • Strategically design process solutions that are low-risk, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable.
    • Develop and refine mathematical process models to optimize performance and design.
    • Generate and maintain PFDs, P&IDs, and mass balances across all project phases.
    • Lead equipment sizing and specification activities to ensure alignment with project requirements.
    • Develop and refine control philosophies that drive operational efficiency.
    • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and HAZOP reviews, ensuring risk mitigation.
    • Oversee the creation and implementation of commissioning plans for smooth project execution.
  • Engage in occasional hands-on work, including commissioning, operating, and troubleshooting water treatment assets at our facilities or customer sites.
  • Lead pilot testing initiatives and innovation, from concept to execution, by collaborating with customers to define requirements and creating comprehensive test plans for pilot-scale and innovative systems.
  • Analyze and report on operational and performance data, offering actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of technology and innovation at Saltworks, driving industry-leading solutions.
What You Will Bring:
  • A relevant degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Integrated Engineering, with significant process design experience.
  • 8+ years of post-graduation experience in process or chemical engineering in industrial settings, with a strong focus on design, testing, and operations.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
  • Extensive experience in developing P&IDs, preferably using AutoCAD P&ID or similar software is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
  • Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills, with a focus on problem-solving and innovation.
  • Hands-on tooling and troubleshooting skills to address technical challenges in real-time.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, maintain high-quality work, and adapt to new challenges.
  • A proactive, positive attitude and a willingness to take ownership of tasks and lead by example.
