We have an exciting opportunity for a Chemist/Chemical Engineer to join our Business Development team! If you are interested in working closely with customers, while also working with our technical team to deliver state-of-the-art water treatment and lithium refining plants, the Business Development Associate position might be for you. Join a world leading team who is making a positive impact, where it matters!

Here is what the role entails:

  • Developing a deep understanding of our ground-breaking products, water chemistry, and saline water treatment fundamentals while learning from internal technical experts. This position will be mentored by a Senior Business Development Engineer and supported by our entire technical team.
  • Interviewing customers to understand their problem statements while gathering critical information to enable development of an effective solution.  
  • Working collaboratively with our internal team to develop creative and differentiated process options and present cost-optimized solutions to the customer.
  • Focusing on customer service excellence through responsiveness, thoroughness, and quality outputs.
  • Completing high-level process flow diagrams, mass and energy balance, and economic analyses.
  • Drafting proposals, developing project plans (scope, schedule, cost), securing customer feedback, and ultimately working with the customer toward a solution.
  • Building meaningful long-term relationships based on technical trust.
  • Representing Saltworks through in-person customer meetings and at conferences and exhibitions.
You will be a great fit if you have:
  • Relevant engineering or science background with strong core knowledge of chemistry.
  • Interest to help customers solve complex problems through the use of science and technology while collaborating with experts.
  • Strong math skills and self-checks for accuracy.
  • Excellent English verbal communication: ask questions and practice active listening.
  • Strong English writing skills to concisely summarize key messages.   
  • Ability to process substantial amounts of information or lack of information and develop a solution that meets the customer’s objectives.
  • Experience with economic assessments and building process or cost models using Excel.
  • A sense of urgency in completing projects on time to meet customer deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain high quality of work and quickly learn new skills.
  • Research skills to unearth potential new customer opportunities and market segments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an interest to meet new people and develop new relationships.
  • Enjoy traveling to connect with customers and network at industry functions.
  • The ability to speak Korean (nice to have, but not required).
