The Role:
Join our team as an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer and take a leading role in the design and development of our advanced systems. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Team Manager, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, gaining mentorship from experienced leaders while contributing your own expertise. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-driven, and thrives on solving complex challenges.
At Saltworks, Mechanical Engineers make a meaningful impact by:
- Translating process designs into code-compliant, fabrication-ready mechanical systems using SolidWorks, ensuring mechanical integrity and adherence to relevant standards and codes.
- Participating in collaborative design sessions with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-performing, safe, and compliant designs while identifying risks and opportunities along the way.
- Preparing precise fabrication drawings using GD&T and maintaining accurate engineering documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting Production by delivering clear, build-ready documentation and assisting with troubleshooting on the shop floor or in the field as needed.
- Enhancing design tools and processes by maintaining the CAD database and continuously improving design standards.
- Taking ownership of the physical integrity and performance of assigned designs, ensuring they meet Saltworks’ quality expectations.
- A degree in Mechanical or Integrated Engineering and 5+ years of related experience.
- P.Eng. registration (or eligibility) through EGBC or another Canadian regulator.
- Strong SolidWorks proficiency, including routing, large assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, drawings, and PDM systems.
- Industrial piping design experience and familiarity with ASME B31.3, BPVC, and CSA B51-14 standards.
- Experience with industrial plant design, including P&IDs and concurrent engineering practices.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews.
- Exposure to PLM (e.g., Aras Innovator) and ERP systems.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with an understanding of design for assembly and LEAN principles.
- Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis, skidded piping design, Navisworks, or Revit (assets).
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude with occasional travel within North America.
